"I only knew what hunted thought
  Quickened his step, and why
He looked upon the garish day
  With such a wistful eye;
The man had killed the thing he loved
And so he had to die."

     Ballad of Reading Gaol

In reference to emotion, I see it in his eyes, but it's subtle. His face is calm, almost serene, but his eyes are dark and troubled, and despite how he looks quite young he appears as an older man might in his eyes.
It is indeed amazing, though, how you captured the moment. I applaud your skill immensely.

Great picture. He looks great, I love his expression. I also love the fact that this is a period piece, I like looking at old time clothing. The background looks very pretty and dreamy too. Overall, very very nice!

Honestly I've never seen anything like this artwork before :wow: Such a wonderful combination of the museum quality work, and a beautiful young face that's so hard to find there! :giggle::heart: Your art moved me so much that it's hard to find the proper words to describe... it's just practically classical in my opinion  This artwork in particular is one of your very, very best!! It looks so real that it must have a soul of its own

Of course,
I like his expression very much (Iam sad that I do not have enough english words for for saying you how much, but I love it really!)

I thougt, if he would be real (I mean alive of flesh and blood) one look in his eyes would be enough to forget all and everything *luv*

You are a talented human, my dear :D

i love the background, almost a monet quality to it, and his expression seems kind of uncertain and innocent to me.. the hat does seem a little out of proportion but still a very nice piece

I'd kind of have to agree on the lack of facial expression, but you did a fabulous job on the uniform, shading and the background is beautiful.

Thank you, I'm glad you can feel him. His sadness is not supposed to be apparent, merely a glimpse of what he caries inside.

God, I love Oscar Wilde! <3
One thing that worries me about this is that the man, although he is indeed very beautifully drawn, looks completely emotionless. I'm sorry if you find that insulting, but I only pointed it out so that you could improve.
Otherwise, everything else is perfect.
(By the way, I love the way the background came out!)

Nono, it's not insulting at all. I'm glad when people speak up their mind, except when they start criticising what I like to draw... coz that's personal :).

Thanks for speaking up, I do agree I should express emotions better in my arts .

You see, that's what I can't understand. I don't see why people think they have the right to tell others what they can or can't draw.

You're welcome! <3

Something about the Colonial/Elizabethan period that makes it so gorgeous and appealing not only in a theme for any art medium..wouldn't you agree?
